We all are aware of today’s situation. Keeping ourselves clean is very important, and there is no denying the fact that after the coronavirus pandemic, people have become very cautious about it. Due to the coronavirus, many people have lost their lives. So it’s now quite clear that if we want to save ourselves from coronavirus, we have ensured that we should maintain hygiene. So looking forward to this situation, an auto-rickshaw driver from Mumbai took an initiative to stop the spread of the coronavirus. His attempt has also been noticed by two Indian businessmen – Anand Mahindra and Harsh Mariwala.
The auto-rickshaw driver is very much inspired by the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Campaign) and he has designed his auto in such a way that it takes care of cleanliness, hygiene, and sanitization and of the environment as well. And he also named his auto-rickshaw as ‘Mumbai’s First Home System Auto-Rickshaw’, it has a washbasin for washing hands and two just bins for both dry waste and wet waste. There are other facilities that are also there such as drinking water in the auto along with the facility of Wi-Fi, cooler/fan, TV with mobile connectivity, playing music with Bluetooth, and the cellphone charging point.
Rickshaw also has a few plants, and they get watered whenever someone washes their hand in the washbasin. The driver gives free-rides to the newlyweds and one-kilometer free ride to the senior citizens. Along with all this, he will also give tips on fitness if his customer wants. On the backside of the auto, driver pasted a poster in which he thanked all the corona warriors, and on both sides, he wrote details about Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) COVID-19 Helpline, on one side in English and on the other in Marathi.
The chairman of the Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, praised the driver and also talked about positive things that happened because of COVID-19. Then he shared the video of the auto on Twitter with the caption, “One silver lining of COVID-19 is that it’s dramatically accelerating the creation of a Swachh Bharat…!!”
The chairman of the Marico group, Harsh Mariwala, also appreciated the efforts and tweeted “Whatever you do, make sure you do it with all your heart. Look how this man has installed a basin to ensure hygiene standards are maintained. The wastewater even goes into some plants he’s growing!”
